RIO LINDA, Sacramento County — Sacramento County has a traffic-safety project in development at Elkhorn Boulevard and 28th Street, a T-intersection serving the Rio Linda, Elverta and North Highlands area.
SacDOT’s preconstruction project directory says the work would add a traffic signal, safety lighting and sidewalk corners. The agency describes the goal as improving safety and nighttime visibility at the intersection.
How is it funded?
The county’s project information estimates total costs at approximately $7.04 million using funds from the Metro Air Park Impact Fee Program. An estimated project cost is not a final construction contract or a guarantee that all money has been spent.
Has construction begun?
The project remains in the county’s preconstruction directory. That classification does not establish a final start date or confirm that a signal is now operating. Drivers should continue to observe existing traffic signs and rules until the county announces a change and the equipment is placed into service.
The county lists senior civil engineer Jenny Singh at 916-874-6092 and associate engineer David Markowski at 916-875-4736 as project contacts.
